When I travel I often photograph electrical resources of the region. This for no particular region other than it makes for graphically interesting subjects.
I’m occasionally started off by configurations like these above and below scenes.
This trip I veered off into the wonderful placement and compositions of the electric meters.

Another thing that drew me was the use of saturated colors on the surrounding walls, and how the meters were either ignored, or actively impacted by the walls’ stuccoing ad painting.
–
There were some targeted meters, like this rare-to-find broken glass but in-service meter.
Then there are the seemingly improvised installations.

Note the ‘cross-driveway’ extension.

See the little ‘rain-cover’ and plywood mounts on the crumbling adobe wall.

Here we see the out-of-code and dangerous use of plastic plumbing pipe instead of actual metal electrical conduit.
Here’s what happens to plastic pipe.
A surprising number of meters are in use as drink and food containers depositories.
I like to think that all of the electric systems, and their users are looked over by what I dub the Saint of Electricity.
Probably the most elegant meter installation.
A reassuring message with these meters.
These collections are so outstanding! Artistic, yet a reflection of reality.
thanks for the response, and support!
This is a really good series. The meters remind me of shrines you might see in Italy.
Thanks, they are, in a way, cultural vignettes.
